Michael Cumming Architect Pty Ltd is an architecture practice committed to the design of bespoke buildings and spaces that enrich user experience by the quality of their environment.

Each client and brief is approached as a unique creative and personal relationship. Design solutions are tested and communicated collaboratively with the client, with the creative process being underpinned by pragmatic solutions, budget, authority approvals and programme.

The key principles of design of the practice is a commitment to understanding the wider context of the building, responding to unique situations, engaging light, air and landscape, appreciating the volume and relationships of spaces, and careful consideration of materials and expression.

The practice holds the collaborative relationship with the builder and other engineering disciplines in high regard to ensure creative concepts are accurately communicated and delivered.

Michael Cumming Architect is a Registered Architect with the Architects Registration Board NSW, and through mutual recognition of state registrations, currently undertakes work across Australia and New Zealand.

Michael graduated from the Sydney University Bachelor of Architecture in 2008 with First Class Honours and was awarded with the Ethel M Chettle Prize in Architecture. He currently enjoys an education role tutoring design and construction technologies at the University of Sydney.

Before founding Michael Cumming Architect Pty Ltd in 2014, he was an Associate Architect at Squillace Architects where he gained extensive experience in coastal, heritage and interstate houses, high end apartment developments, and highly acclaimed restaurants, bars and hospitality venues across Sydney.
